REMEMBERING 70 YEARS SINCE THE LIBERATION OF HANOI CAPITAL DAY

Ba Dinh Square, where President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence 79 years ago, declaring the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.

On October 10, 1954, Hanoi shone with liberation joy, marking a new page in the history of this thousand-year cultural capital.
Hanoi, the heart of the country, has experienced many ups and downs throughout its historical journey. Over the past 70 years, the capital has continued to develop, transforming from a war city into a vibrant cultural, economic, and political center. Ancient architectural wonders blend with modernity, creating Hanoi’s unique identity.

According to the introduction at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum in the Presidential Palace, President Ho Chi Minh once said: “Previously this was the Governor-General’s Palace, but the construction of this architectural work is the handiwork of Vietnamese workers. Now that the people are free and the country is independent, the right to manage the building must belong to the people.”

Hanoi, beloved capital city, will forever be a source of pride for every Vietnamese son and daughter. Let us together express gratitude to the preceding generations, those who sacrificed for independence and freedom, so that today we may enjoy peace and development.
